DIP*talk Media & Information Design: Giovanni Magni + Marco Bernardi

DIP stands for ‘Design In Practice’. During our DIP-talks, Media & Information Design alumni and remarkable designers inform and inspire by showing their practice, sharing their experience and vision. DIP-talks are part of our design education program, but accessible for anyone interested.

Giovanni Magni is an information designer currently working at Elastic and for PoliDesign’s Master in Service Design as Adjunct Faculty Member. Previously he worked at Accurat as Head of Data Visualization. He loves to create tools and interfaces that make data accessible, readable and explorable. Giovanni studied in Brussels, at LUCA School of Arts and graduated in Communication Design at Politecnico di Milano. Among his clients are Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, DensityDesign Research Lab, Feltrinelli Education, Gates Ventures, Google News Lab, H-Farm Education, Generali, IBM, IQVIA, Microsoft, Médialab of Sciences Po, Pentagram, Poli.Design, Ross Institute, Sense about Science, Scientific American, Starbucks, Talent Garden, Texas 2036, The Global Fund, Triennale di Milano, Unicredit, University of Amsterdam, University of California Berkeley, Unox, World Bank and World Economic Forum.

Marco Bernardi is currently based in London, Lead Designer at Applied Works, previously Design Director and Team Leader at Accurat. He works with data to craft innovative digital products, experimental interactive experiences, powerful analytics tools and data-driven narratives. He graduated in Communication Design at Politecnico di Milano, with a thesis on interaction design and technologies for cultural heritage, and he studied at esa S. Luc in Liege. In Marco’s professional experience, he had the chance to work with Giorgia Lupi (Pentagram), Francesco Franchi (La Repubblica, IL Magazine), the team of Phil Gilbert (IBM Design), David Moretti (Apple, Wired) and other brilliant professionals in the design field. Positive and passionate, he strongly believes in the role of design in crafting a brighter future and connecting different people and disciplines.
