Erasmus Charter for Higher Education (ECHE)

The Erasmus Charter for Higher Education (ECHE) provides the quality framework for Erasmus+ funded activities carried out by Higher Education Institutions (HEIs). The aims of Erasmus+ support the European modernisation and internationalisation agendas in higher education, in particular the quality of student and staff mobility. By signing the ECHE, an HEI confirms that its participation in Erasmus+ is part of its own strategy for modernisation and internationalisation.

The first ECHE awarded to LUCA was under the Lifelonglearning programme in 2007, the second one under Erasmus+ in 2014. The ECHE was renewed and awarded to LUCA by the European Commission for the 2021 – 2027 period of the current Erasmus programme after a successful bid.

The ECHE 2021-2027 of LUCA will re-inforce many of the existing principles. It will also include a commitment to digitalise mobility management processes, principles of (automatic) recognition and to make mobility actions more environmentally friendly.
