When choosing the Film-Tv-Video programme taught at our campus Narafi Brussels, you'll be trained to become an all-round film professional.
Curriculum
Programme for exchange students: Our bachelor programme in Audio-visual Techniques at campus Narafi, is all about creative training with a broad technical base.
In the space of three years, BA Film-TV-Video students become all-rounders. During this programme you'll get a taste of all facets of the film profession. You'll make contemporary short films and self-willed reports. In the process, you'll learn everything about camera, sound, light, production, editing, scenario and direction.
The course uses a creative and practically oriented approach to tackle both the technical and artistic aspects of the audio-visual world. Theory courses form the basis of practical workshops. In other words, they act in function of practical assignments. In our programme, theory and practice are inextricably linked. This way of working provides the students with the necessary theoretical knowledge to successfully realize practical assignments.
Moreover, these assignments are entirely inspired by the real needs of the profession, making this a truly hands-on degree.

Discover LUCA’s workshops
In our audiovisual workshops you enter a professional environment where image and sound come together.
You work in spacious film studios equipped with sound absorbing materials, suitable for both large-scale productions and intimate recordings. Combined with the camera, lighting and audio equipment available through the equipment lending service, you have everything you need to realise your audiovisual ideas both technically and creatively.
From recording to editing and colour grading: all spaces and equipment are tailored for students who want to develop their audiovisual projects with strong technical and creative skills.
As a LUCA student, you have access to every workshop across all LUCA campuses.

What do you need?
A good command of English (level B2) is required to make the most of your stay with us.
For the Fiction Project 2 Film, where you will be working on set for four months, each student is asked to contribute 800 euros to the group project covering food, transport, location, actors, material, etc. In group, you will be encouraged to raise money throughout the semester via crowdfunding. The gained amount via crowdfunding will be deducted from the 800 euros of each group member, so the 800 euros is a back-up in case you don't reach the goal of the crowdfunding.
A second point, which is also important, is that you try to practise your Dutch, especially on a set where many technical terms are used – though they are basic ones. This would be very helpful both for the group and for your own integration. Duolingo is a useful tool, for example. As your mentor, I will also guide and support you in this.

Application & entry requirements
All Erasmus+ Exchange Students need to apply via the exchange application procedure of LUCA School of Arts. During your application process, you can indicate the LUCA campus of your choice and the exchange programme you wish to apply for. Notice that not all programmes are open for incoming exchange students in both semesters. An overview can be found here.
- The deadline for the Autumn Semester / full year is April 1
- The deadline for the Spring Semester is October 1
Outcome Exchange Application
The outcome of the application can be expected within 4-6 weeks after the application deadline. Both you and your international coordinator will be informed about the result of your application by e-mail. No need to inquire about the outcome yourself.

Quality is LUCA’s driving force

The formal quality framework for study programmes within LUCA was named KOPERA, which stands for: Critically Analyzing the Quality of Study Programmes with Peers in Self-Direction.
For KOPERA, LUCA starts from a vision of quality assurance that stems from trust and is aimed at valuing, inspiring, and improving.
During the six-year KOPERA cycle, each study programme receives a panel of critical friends who review the implementation of the quality characteristics and examine how the programme contributes to the general LUCA policy.
The culmination of KOPERA is the ultimate assurance of programme quality. The core question here is: "does the study program have a good quality culture that follows the ‘plan-do-check-act’ cycle?"
