The Graphic Design programme at the Sint-Lucas Ghent campus is a study programme for students who attach importance to the artistic added value of graphic communication.
The graphic design programme focuses on experimentation, innovative thinking and critical reflection in the design process. Our students are formed as independent designers. During their studies at LUCA they acquire the skills necessary to play a part in developing and innovating the design practice.
The studio works as a lab in which the graphic and suggestive possibilities of images and typography are investigated. Students learn to analyze a subject/question and take an artistic position with regard to the content.
They translate this point of view into a graphic concept and an effective design and are in constant dialogue with teachers and fellow students. Typography, publication and book design, editorial and conceptual design, web design, type design… within this diversity students find their way and emphasize markers according to their individuality and personality.

A welcome week with introductions to Flemish historical and contemporary art, the city of Gent and the campus is organised each semester.

LUCA-campus Ghent (Sint-Lucas) consists of various buildings, most of them are located in the lovely historic city centre of Ghent where the vast majority of the classes are taught. One campus building is situated in a park in Mariakerke, the greenest suburb of Ghent. Depending on the courses you enroll for, you may also have classes for half a day or a full day at Mariakerke.
Students have a working space on campus for the duration of the exchange and can make use of the technical facilities for casting, metal, word, printmaking, textiles, print and scan, screen printing, audio, video and photography.
