About

Based on a current need for additional psychosocial interventions for people with dementia and their caregivers, this impulse project wants to explore the possible implementation of a music-therapeutic "learning model" (Ottesen, 2014) in the home context and within support networks for caregivers in Leuven.
A study on this model showed a positive development of interpersonal skills among caregivers, which had a positive impact on the quality of life of both patient and caregiver.
The impulse project comprises 2 main objectives:

1. Creating a cooperation network between the Music Therapy research group (LUCA School of Arts) and the existing networks that focus on the socialization of care for people with dementia in the Leuven region.

2. Developing a participatory research design as a basis for possible follow-up research (e.g. IF, FWO, KBS).
