We live since 2008 in a worldwide crisis with repercussions in the arts sector. Since then in Flanders has grown a debate about the concepts “creation” and “repertory”. The (art) world in transition searches for answers: repertory becomes more and more a mirror and creations deal often with socio-economical and ethical questions. In this context the hero presents himself again as a subject, as a medium that gives answers to the disturbed public. This research deals with the hero as a means to narrate. Finally this research will lead to new creations by enrolling itself in the tradition of the repertory: the historical hero helps to reflect in a critical way about the present-day context. These creations use the historical hero to reflect upon present-day truth paradigms.
