From September 2019 onwards, Luc Ponetwill be back as an organ teacher at LUCA Music. Even more enthusiastically, he will support the organ department, with knowhow of and respect for the long tradition, but also with an eye for the actual future of the organist. Luc Ponet: ‘I will commit myself to the optimal development of the artistic knowledge and practice, the output of the artistic identity and I will focus on an updated professional context.’ LUCA Music is pleased to have him on board again!
The Belgian organist Luc Ponet was born in Hasselt. A broad-based study programme at amongst others Lemmens Institute (Leuven) and further studies at the Hochschule für Musik und darstellende Kunst in Vienna have contributed to what he is today: a musician with a broad range, enjoying worldwide fame for his concerts, lectures and master classes. Furthermore, he is an inspector of art education for the Flemish community, organist-titular of the Notre Dame Cathedral in Tongeren and curator/consultant for the Organ Festival and related policy in the city of Leuven. He is also the organist-in-residence and musical director of the Bach Academy Alden Biesen. Since 1982, he has developed a multifaceted international career as an organist, conductor, professor (Lemmens Institute Leuven). Over the years he has recorded several CDs (Naxos, Pavane, Et’cetera) and has published a number of books and articles in specialist journals. At the Faculty of Architecture and the Arts of the University Leuven, drs. Luc Ponet prepares a doctoral degree.
