Deep histories fragile memories is a fluid research constellation that centers around a core group: Wendy Morris, Hilde Van Gelder, Pieternel Vermoortel, Alexandra Crouwers, Mariske Broeckmeyer, Hoda Siahtiri, Joeri Verbesselt, Laurens Dhaenens, Hannah Van Hove, Nele Möller. Located at Luca School of Arts, Brussel, dhfm is connected through its membership to the Lieven Gevaert Research Centre (KU Leuven-UC Louvain) and the art institute Netwerk Aalst. Dhfm is one of the new Intermedia research clusters replacing the older research group Narrative Arts.
Dhfm encircles four research fields. The Forest of Things is concerned with lost herbals, matriarchal trees, digital landscapes and ecological imaginations. Anecdotal Evidence explores writing and expanded language based practices. Glitches & Gibberish encompasses investigations of the loss of language and the mechanical mistake. Omissions & Additions includes projects that touch on multiple research fields or refuse precise categorization.
The first aim of dhfm is to seek points of convergence between our projects, to share research and artistic methodologies, to be each other’s most engaged audience and to collectively seek to expand each other’s research practices. The second aim of dhfm is to make this research visible, communicable and traceable.
