Alexios Lizos is a pianist, piano teacher, chamber music performer and accompanist, born on 1986 in Thessaloniki, Greece and currently residing in Leuven, Belgium. At the moment, an active solo and ensemble artist, he is studying close to prof. Jan Vermeulen specializing on pianoforte and historical interpretation. In parallel, through his workshop “Pianoles Leuven” he aims to form his own piano practice methodology alongside with his students, based on a neuropsychological perspective. Alexios is a holder of a Masters degree in Piano Performance “magna cum laude”, after studying with prof. Alan Weiss in LUCA School of Arts – Campus Lemmensinstituut.
He received his piano diploma from the State Conservatory of Thessaloniki in the class of Zoe Samsarelou with Distinction, and he graduated from the Music Studies Department of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki with an extended Bachelors degree in Musicology/Music Pedagogy with Honours. He, then, further developed his piano skills under the mentorship of Nikolaos Zafranas for two years. He is the recipient of distinctions and awards in Greece and elsewhere.
Interested in ensemble music, since 2011 he performs as a cello-piano duo with Dimitrios Karagiannakidis, and from 2012 as a violin-piano duo with Diana Solomonidou. He was part of the Greek pianistic ensemble Temperamentum until 2009.
Alexios had the opportunity to actively participate in seminars and special piano courses with Cyprien Katsaris, Naum Grubert, Ana Mirabela Dina, Janna & Katerina Polyzoides, Daniel Rivera, Domna Evnouchidou, Pietro De Maria etc..
He is a proud holder of several scholarships and awards throughout his pianistic journey and would like to thank the private and public trustees Gertrud Aigner, Bart Pattyn, and Austrian-Greek Society of Graz for their generous help.
