Artist at a high level
Requirements?
You must also be eligible for “student-entrepreneur” or “working student” status and be experiencing difficulties balancing high-level artistic practice with your educational activities. Please note: In addition to applying for “High-Level Artist” status, you must simultaneously submit an application for “student-entrepreneur” or “working student” status, along with the necessary documentation. Your application will be reviewed and assessed by the LUCA Art Office. The special needs assessor will monitor the application process.
What accommodations are available?
You are entitled to a number of accommodations. These will be discussed during a meeting with the care coach and tailored to your needs.
How to proof eligibility?
Completed “High-Level Artist” application form
along with:
- Resume and portfolio

How to apply?
Step 1: Create an application file in KULoket by 14/10/26
(Click on the “Registration & requests” tab followed by “Request status/Accommodations”)
Step 2: Upload your documents/certificates to the “Documents” tab by October 28, 2026
Step 3: Click “Submit”
Step 4: The care coach will review your application and approve or reject it based on the documents and certificates you’ve uploaded. If your application is incomplete, it will remain “pending.”
Step 5: As soon as your status is approved, you’ll receive an automated email. Then, schedule an appointment with the care coach for your program.
Did you miss the deadlines listed above? If so, you can create a new application file starting in the second semester (by 24/2/27) and upload certificates (by 10/03/27), following the procedure outlined above.
Studying as a student – caregiver or student – top athlete

Requirements?
You offer extra support to someone in need of care from the immediate environment (family member first degree, cohabiting partner,…)
What accommodations are available?
You are entitled to a number of accommodations. These will be discussed during a meeting with the care coach and tailored to your needs.
How to prove eligibility?
Completed application form student-caregiver along with:
- Statement from a doctor that the person in need of care is in a serious medical situation and needs extra support.
- Official document in which the student is recognized as an informal caregiver by, for example, health insurance, if available.

You experience difficulties in your studies due to the combination with top sport. View the conditions
What accommodations are available?

How to prove eligibility?
Completed application form student-top athlete along with:
- All possible evidence that can support the application form (e.g. training schedule, club membership, recognition of a certain federation/committee, participation in competition past 12 months,…)

Special individual circumstances (SIC)
You are not entitled to a status, but you have a specific need for support.
Are there any circumstances that affect your ability to study or attend classes? The special needs assessor will assess whether you are qualified for accommodations and help you make arrangements with your study program. For example:
- Is there a case of circumstances beyond your control, such as the death of a loved one, a loved one’s illness, pregnancy, etc.?
- Are you on the waiting list for a diagnostic evaluation related to a disability or neurodivergence?
- Do you experience language difficulties because you speak a different native language and are now studying at LUCA?
- You are a temporarily protected citizen who has emigrated to Belgium,
- You are a recognized refugee or have applied for refugee status,
- ...

Your care coach may request additional documentation to support your application.

An inclusive experience abroad
Going abroad?
Do you have doubts about participating in a mobility abroad because you:

have a disability such as dyslexia, autism or AD(H)D?

are psychologically vulnerable or in therapy?

combine school with at least a half-time job?

Together with the special needs assessor and the international coordinator, you can examine your situation confidentially. See more info on the internationalisation website: "An inclusive experience abroad for all". Apply for a status (see above) at LUCA to be entitled to support. Your status and adjustments may also be valid at the institution you go to. |
Incoming international students:
Are you registered as a student with a disability by your own institution? You may be entitled to accommodations at LUCA. Ask your own institution to provide us with your registered adjustments and certificates. This can be done directly to your campus' care coach or via the international coordinator. Do you have the attestations yourself? Contact the care coach to review your situation together.
