This practice based artistic research project examines the role of my own professional identity when coaching musical creation processes with children in the field of non-formal music education. Starting from that professional identity I interact with them, resonate with their musical learning processes in order to interpret and optimize that learning process on the one hand and learn about my own professional identity on the other hand. The own professional identity is thus applied as a sounding board and can be divided in three dimensions: (1) the espoused identity, (2) the enacted identity and (3) the perceived identity. The research design combines a practice-based research with a literature review. The practice-based research connects action research with a self-study.
