A Tale of Two Brothers – Achilles and Patroclus

(2022)

Within this graphic novel, I chose to shed light on a universal experience all of us are bound to undergo at some point : namely the loss of a loved one. This is done through a reinterpretation of the Achilles and Patroclus myth using digital techniques.

During the Trojan war, Patroclus gets killed by Hector, the Trojan prince. Through the loss of who he considered to be his brother, Achilles gets strongly affected both emotionally and physically. As a way to illustrate the struggle of losing a loved one, his foot ends up being amputated.

Throughout the 6 chapters of mourning, we follow his recovery process ranging from the amputation to the fitting of a prosthetic leg, all whilst experiencing a myriad of emotions among which revenge.
