Magneto Lectura invites guest speakers whose practices question, shift, and redefine the boundaries between disciplines. Through a critical and research-driven approach, the series explores the intersections of graphic design, interior design, architecture, and the visual arts.
The program positions itself as a platform where design practice and reflection meet, placing hybrid forms of work, speculative thinking, and transversal collaborations at its core. The invited speakers are leading voices within the BENELUX region while also operating in a broader international context. Their practices function as case studies of how contemporary designers navigate complex social, spatial, and visual questions.
With this lecture series, LUCA aims to encourage students to think and work beyond the conventional contours of their discipline. Magneto Lectura promotes an attitude in which experimentation, critical positioning, and interdisciplinary cross-pollination become fundamental design tools.
For its first edition, Magneto Lectura will bring together a diverse group of practices: Team Thursday, Atelier Brenda, Veldwerk Architecten, Janne Schimmel, Wanwai Shum, Dennis Vanderbroeck, and Rizon Parein. Each represents a distinct and investigative approach to design and image-making, where the dialogue between concept, context, and execution is central.
The series will take place from Monday through Thursday at LUCA School of Arts. On Thursday evening, the edition will conclude with an afterparty, organized by the graphic design students at a location to be announced.
