Dura Lex Sed Lex
This series documents the first weeks of training to become a paratrooper. Over a period of three weeks different aspects will be tested to determine which persons are most capable of becoming a trooper. These weeks are spent in tents with a minimum of comfort. Each morning they wake be- fore dawn to stand in platoon and be briefed about the activities of the day. After this they get two hours to ready themselves. This includes eating, showering and cleaning their equipment.
The activities begin at 8 a.m.
These activities are designed to test locomotion, logic thinking and the way you function in group.
Without a good teamspirit you will never fit in the army.
Everything is based on technique. Without the proper technique accidents are never far away. Not only can you easily hurt yourself, but you’ll be a liability for your team. A good example is rock climbing. Both technique and safety are key to succes here. As such every mistake will be sanctioned with push-ups.
Close combat is a class where they learn to defend themselves and take out the enemy when nee- ded. Stamina is key in these trainings.
The trainees are pushed to their limits to guarantee the best possible results and provide them with the necessary skills to survive in the army.
