Wendy Morris was born in Namibia (1960) and grew up in Johannesburg, South Africa. She studied Fine Art and History of Art at the University of the Witwatersrand and at the University of South Africa. Now living in Belgium she has recently completed a doctorate in the arts through LUCA School of Arts / University of Leuven (2013). Her animated works are made by filming large charcoal drawings that she alters and redraws. The films are built up of associative elements that are in continual transformation. Morris shows her work internationally at film festivals (Clermont-Ferrand, Annecy and Dok-Leipzig) and in exhibition (Jeu de Paume (Paris), Storm King Art Centre (New York), In Flanders Fields Museum (Ieper), and Oude Kerk (Amsterdam)).
