European Joint Master with roots in Genk to be honoured at the prestigious Animafest Zagreb 2026

RE:Anima, the only Joint Master’s program in animation film, has been named Best Animation 'School'. The international program, in which Campus C-mine of LUCA School of Arts also participates, will receive this award during the prestigious Animafest in Zagreb in June. LUCA Animation Film lecturer Shauni De Gussem from Campus C-mine Genk will travel to Zagreb in June to accept the prize.

Last week a very special screening was presented at LUCA School of Arts C-mine Genk. The master students of the Animation department created an animated film for the Animal Shelter of Genk, depicting the typical itinerary of a shelter dog: 'Alfie'.

110 years after its first presentation in the Colonial Pavillion at the 1913 International Exhibition in Ghent, Belgium and almost 88 years after its last public display at the International Exhibition in Brussels in 1935, the large Panorama du Congo (115 x 14 meters) was unrolled to be photographed and filmed by the FilmEU RIT’s project ‘Congo VR’ with LUCA researchers. 

The Czech Republic will preside the Council of the European Union for six months beginning on 1 July. Multiple cultural and social events are being prepared to mark the occasion. The Academy of Performing Arts in Prague along with CESNET and Belgium’s Luca School of Arts have organised one such event.
