Lorenzo Ghielmi specializes in the study and performance of Renaissance and Baroque music.
Widely regarded as an important interpreter of the organ and harpsichord works of Johann Sebastian Bach.
Performs internationally across Europe, Russia, Japan, Korea, and the Americas, and has made numerous radio recordings.
Extensive discography with labels including Passacaille Records, Winter & Winter, Harmonia Mundi, and Teldec.
Author of a book on Nicolaus Bruhns and several studies on 16th–17th century organ building and Baroque performance practice.
Teaches organ, harpsichord, and ensemble music at the Civica Scuola di Musica di Milano; served as Professor of Organ at the Schola Cantorum Basiliensis from 2006 to 2015.
Titular organist of the Ahrend organ at the Basilica of San Simpliciano, where he performed the complete organ works of Johann Sebastian Bach.
Frequently invited as jury member, lecturer, and masterclass teacher at international organ competitions and institutions.
Has supervised the construction of several new organs, including the large instrument at the St. Mary's Cathedral Tokyo.
Co-founder of the ensemble Il Giardino Armonico (1985).
Founded the ensemble La Divina Armonia in 2005, performing at festivals across Europe and Japan.
